Stephen Wadsworth’s production of Gluck’s opera Iphigenie en Tauride, filmed at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House, will release at selected Cinema Nouveau cinemas in South Africa on 25 March. It stars Susan Graham, Placido Domingo and Paul Groves.
This production of Iphigenie en Tauride was conducted by Patrick Summers. The opera is Gluck’s nuanced and elegant interpretation of the primal Greek myth. Wadsworth’s insightful production was first seen in 2007.
