The personality-driven (pardon the pun) motoring show that is a mega global hit, Top Gear, will be at Johannesburg’s Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 17 to 20 March. Popular hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be joined at the event by the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 Team, former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard and South African former Formula 1 champion, Jody Scheckter, as well as many guest drivers and celebrities.
Top Gear has been broadcast on DStv for some time and recently made its debut on SABC3, thus generating more South African fans of the show.
The Top Gear team made their first visit to South Africa last year, when they descended upon the Northgate Dome in Johannesburg. This year’s event, powered by BP Ultimate, promises to be more interactive for visitors. It will expand from the usual “theatre show’ to a motoring festival. Top Gear’s infamous in-house racing driver, The Stig, will also be making an appearance, along with legendary driver Sir Stirling Moss.
As well as the Top Gear Stunt Show, featuring all three presenters, visitors will also enjoy a huge variety of other exciting outdoor features situated around the Kyalami track. These include drag racing, power testing, time trials, rallying and off-roading.
