Of the four South African films on local release during the week of 7 to 13 January, only Spud (60 prints) made the Combined Top 10 list, coming in at seventh spot after six weeks of release. It had made R15.6m as at 13 January.
The Afrikaans smash hit musical, Liefling (31 prints), continues to perform phenomenally well after eight weeks of release. It had made R13m as at 13 January after eight weeks of release.
Stoute Boudjies (2), the Afrikaans comedy, is also performing very well and had made R1.3m by the above date.
The local vampire movie, Eternity (2), had made R342,271 after three weeks of release.
The biggest earner for the week in question was the Johnny Depp / Angelina Jolie starrer, The Tourist. It made R4.5m in this its first week of release.
