According to The Hollywood Reporter, pressure from America’s most famous political family – the Kennedy clan – was instrumental in the History Channel withdrawing the controversial mini-series, The Kennedys, from its schedule.
The series stars Greg Kinnear as John F Kennedy and Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy.
Members of the Kennedy family, such as Jackie’s daughter Caroline Kennedy as well as Maria Shriver, have been lobbying against the series.
The History Channel released a statement saying that the series was not a fit for the History brand. It’s worth noting that none of the History Channel’s advertisers or sponsors have complained about the miniseries.
Canada will broadcast the series in March and it will be seen in foreign countries as well. It’s possible that another American network will pick up the series.
