Coverage of the dramatic rescue of the Chilean miners in San Jose is costing the BBC in excess of £100,000. The broadcaster has sent 26 news staffers to Chile to report on the story.
According to The Guardian, this expensive coverage means that the BBC will be forced to reduce its coverage of other major events like the G20 summit in Seoul next month and the 2011 Oscars.
The broadcaster is reportedly £67k beyond its agreed overspend of £500k for the year.
