Academy Award® winner Halle Berry is braving the shark- infested waters off Cape Town, South Africa in director John Stockwell’s (Blue Crush, Crazy/Beautiful) Dark Tide. Berry plays Kate, a renowned “Shark Whisperer’ who after a near-fatal accident is persuaded by her estranged ex-husband, played by French heartthrob Olivier Martinez (Unfaithful, Taking Lives, S.W.A.T), to return to the deep.
The action thriller is being filmed amidst real Great White Sharks and the cinematography will take viewers into the murky world of the deep. The script is an original screenplay by Amy Sorlie and pits Berry inches away from the ocean’s greatest predator. This is the most physically daring shoot Berry has ever signed on for and the gripping action scenes place her in touching distance of the wild, free-flowing sharks.
Dark Tide also stars veteran British actor, Ralph Brown (The Boat that Rocked, Caught in the Act) and South African newcomers Luke Stein and Mark Elderkin (Goodbye Bafana) and is produced by Jeanette Buerling and Matthew Chausse, with financing by Magnet Media Productions in a co-production with Film Afrika and Zephyr Films.
