Sun Circle Publishers (Pty) Ltd, which developed the Screen Africa brand across print and online trade publications, is pleased to announce that Simon Robinson has joined the company as a shareholder. Robinson will take over the running of the business side of the company in his new position as publisher.
Angela van Schalkwyk, editor-in-chief of Screen Africa and previously the sole owner of Sun Circle, says that with Robinson on board in a key management position the company will be able to expand the core products of its business, namely the monthly Screen Africa magazine, annual Screen Africa Directory & International Guide, the website www.screenafrica.com and the weekly Screen Africa e-Newsletter. Screen Africa is the oldest monthly entertainment trade publication in South Africa, having debuted in May 1988.
Robinson has a strong background in sales and marketing and has an IMM qualification. In 2003 he was appointed a director of Thebe Exhibitions, which inaugurated Mediatech Africa, the technology trade show for the broadcast, new media, entertainment and audio visual industries. Robinson developed Mediatech Africa into South Africa and the continents premier industry trade show, which offers an opportunity to keep up to date with international trends and rapid changes in technology.
Self-motivated and ambitious, Robinson in 2007 started a young and dynamic conference, and events business, 365 Projects and Consultants, and was contracted by Thebe to continue with Mediatech Africa.
