Following all the drama of the UK’s General Election, The Guardian reports that BBC director general Mark Thompson has stated that the broadcaster’s journalism output is more important to the country’s image overseas than the government.
Thompson’s stance is backed by research commissioned by the BBC, which found that 80% of respondents in other countries said the BBC made them think more positively about Britain.
This reinforces the view that the broadcaster is a trusted news source globally.
