December 2010 will see the inaugural Drift, Radio Personality and Presenter’s Awards. The RPP Awards have been designed to acknowledge and recognise radio presenters and personalities and to raise the standard and quality in the radio broadcasting industry.
The organisers believe that this event should have been done long time ago as radio is at the centre of the daily lives of 18 million people. With some radio presenters commanding daily listenership of over two million people, the awards should generate interest among listeners.
The planning and the preparation for the RPP Awards began towards the end of the year last in 2009. The organisers are currently engaging various stakeholders and potential sponsors to come on board.
An official launch will take place in April, where categories will be officially announced. The call for entries will be issued then.
