The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has shortlisted nine films out of the 65 films from around the world deemed eligible for the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 2010 Oscars. From this shortlist five finalists will be announced on 2 February, with the Oscars taking place on 7 February at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
The nine films in contention for final nomination are: The White Ribbon (Germany), A Prophet (France), The Milk of Sorrow (Peru), The Secret in Their Eyes (Argentina), Samson and Delilah (Australia), The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner (Bulgaria), Ajami (Israel), Kelin (Kazakhstan) and Winter in Wartime (The Netherlands).
