Five days into Solly Mokoetle’s five-year contract as the new CEO of crisis- stricken South African broadcaster SABC and there is already drama. The Inkatha Freeddom Party wants allegations surrounding Mokoetle’s corporate governance failures when he was the SABC Chief Operating Officer between 2001 and 2006 investigated.

To this end, parliamentary portfolio committee communications chairmain Ismail Vadi has requested a copy of the 2005 Gobodo Report which focuses on the alleged failures.

According to Business Day, the report apparently deals with “collusive tendering’ worth R56m between production companies and senior executives at the SABC. The report was apparently never presented to parliament at the time it was collated.
