Iconic American director Martin Scorsese (Gangs of New York, Goodfellas) has formed partnerships with digital technology company B-Side Entertainment and virtual cinematehque The Auteurs, to promote and exhibit a slate of restored films from the developing world via the World Cinema Foundation.
Scorsese made the announcement at the Cannes Film Festival on 16 May. Former New York Film Society associate director of programming Kent Jones will be the new executive director of the World Cinema Foundation, of which Scorsese is founder and chair.
