Greek filmmakers in stand-off

A rogue group of Greek filmmakers – some 33 directors and nine producers – are threatening to boycott the State Film Awards as a way of pressurising the Ministry of Culture to present a long-awaited film bill to Parliament.

First drafted in late 2007, the new legislation “shall institute all stages of production as well as the way the State Awards are awarded”. Previously, a committee led by director Costa-Gavras (Missing, Music Box) had lobbied the government on issues such as state funds management and tax returns. (Source: Cineuropa)
