BBC Worldwide launched its extended winter programming schedule on DStv at a press lunch held in Johannesburg last week.
John Taite, Director of Programming EMEA, BBC Worldwide Channels said that with the successful launch of four channels last year – BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC Knowledge – this year promises even more entertainment for viewers with a slate of new programmes in the line-up.
Taite said that BBC Worldwide was the number one international portfolio of channels on DStv. “This simply means that we are offering some of the best television out there.’
Taite made mention of the following programme line-up: BBC Knowledge would see the legendry Stephen Fry in a series on his travels across America and BBC Entertainment will introduce Survivor, a drama about a virus that has wiped out most of the world population. Other shows included in the BBC Entertainments lineup are Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.
BBC Lifestyle will continue to screen the top food, home and design shows. CBeebies, the kids’ channel, will offer more entertaining and educational shows. These include: Mister Maker, 3rd & Bird and Big and Small.
Taite added that the ever popular Dancing with the Stars returns. “We bring you the glitz and glamour and the celebrities including Monica Seles, Priscilla Presley and
Tony award-winning actress Marissa Jaret Winokur amongst others.’
Taite concluded: “I’m excited by this line-up for the winter slate. I believe it delivers our best programming yet: gripping dramas, hilarious comedies, fascinating documentaries, inspirational lifestyle shows and wonderful children’s programmes that represent BBC at its best.’
