British public broadcaster BBC has taken the first step of streamlining its development slate of drama projects pitched by independent producers by appointing a UK-wide head of independent drama, Anne Mensah, who is also in charge of drama at BBC Scotland.
An article in The Guardian referred to the BBC’s “much more co-ordinated approach to all development and commissioning for the independent drama community”.
It is likely that the BBC may now have fewer projects in development for each year.
