The recent writers’ strike in Hollywood will mean that new scripts will be in short supply for a while. It is inevitable that a number of the old classics will therefore undergo a remake. On the cards is the 1964 Lerner & Loewe classic musical My Fair Lady.
Columbia Pictures, responsible for the first version, plan to remake the movie and for a fresh take will include more of Bernard Shaw’s original play Pygmalion. According to Columbia the original Covent Garden settings will be use as well as Drury Lane for the theatre scene and Ascot racecourse.
The role of Eliza Doolittle will be a coveted role and one of the names that has cropped up in this connection is Keira Knightley.
