Oscar-winning American director Sydney Pollack (Out of Africa) has died at the age of 73, after a nine-month battle with cancer. He died at his home in Los Angeles.
Some of his most famous films include Tootsie, They Shoot Horses Don’t They?, The Way We Were, Three Days of the Condor and The Electric Horseman.
Pollack began his career as an actor and recently received acclaim for his acting in George Clooney’s Michael Clayton. He was also the producer of the late Anthony Minghella’s Oscar-winning Cold Mountain.
