For all the film fundis out there, how many of you have seen the films that are screening in the US as part of a tribute to United Artists’ 90th anniversary?
They include Blake Edwards’ original Pink Panther film starring Peter Sellers, David Niven, Robert Wagner and Claudia Cardinale; Billy Wilder’s classic comedy Some Like It Hot, starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon; the movie that launched Sean Connery as superspy James Bond, Dr No; and the political dramas of the early 1960s, The Manchurian Candidate and Judgment at Nuremburg.
The restored prints are scheduled to make their way across the US in a road-show tour.
United Artists was founded in 1919 by the silent screen legends Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
