Some 600 decision-makers in European public service TV will congregate at the second annual Eurovision TV Summit to be held in Lucerne, Switzerland from 5 to 9 May. delegates will exchange ideas on common topics in public service broadcasting.
The most important meeting during the summit is the Common Focus Day on Wednesday 7 May which features two sessions by Europe’s most distinguished personalities in the audiovisual business.
A Proud to Present session, moderated by Bjørn Erichsen, Director of Eurovision TV, will showcase clips from the best programmes in the various television genres from 2007, selected by the Eurovision experts groups and introduced by their national producers.
The following session, Creative Camera, presented by the world’s best cinema and TV directors and photographers will discuss how to make TV images as good as cinematographic ones. Many extracts from film, TV fiction and documentaries will be presented.
Top cinematographers will explain how a story is told through the lens. These include: Jean-Jacques Annaud (The Name of the Rose, The Bear, Seven Years in Tibet), Agnieszka Holland, one of Poland’s most prominent filmmakers, Billy Williams, director of Ghandi and On Golden Pond, Thaddeus O`Sullivan, one of Ireland’s most important film directors, and Phil Bye, war photographer for ITN.
Rick Senat, producer of such popular productions as the Harry Potter films, Greystoke, Batman and Superman, will moderate this last session together with Bjørn Erichsen.
The Summit also includes a series of specialised meetings on a wide range of topics, from cross media and formats to children’s drama & documentary and science & education.
