Township communities and young people will have the opportunity be exposed to the world’s top public service programming as part of Input 2008, the global screening conference which takes place at Johannesburg’s Sandton Convention Centre from 4 to 10 May. The Outreach Project is a collaboration between Input 2008 and the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) and takes place at the top and tail end of the Input 2008 conference, in township venues from 2 to 3 May and in urban venues from 10 to11 May.
Partners in The Outreach Project are two young companies specialising in arts and community projects – Coalstove Pictures and Rishile Bosele Communications. The screenings will include a selection of current global TV programming from Africa, Asia, Latin & North America, Europe, The Middle East and Australia.
Through engaging in discussion with filmmakers and facilitators on site, The Outreach Project aims to encourage a more discerning and informed audience with the overall objective of growing television in the public interest.
