The BBC reports that Channel 4 will cut its budget for US programming in order to spend more on homegrown shows.
The channel currently shows US sitcoms and dramas such as Friends, Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. It recently relinquished the rights for Lost.
Other plans include investing more into factual programmes and showing one new documentary daily in prime time, in a move to strengthen its public service role.
