“Oceans 13′, the third instalment of the collaboration between Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh (“Traffic’, “Erin Brockovich’) and heartthrobs George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, has taken R3.6m in its opening week at the South African box office, proving the strength of the brand.
The film has knocked another third-instalment sequel, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ out of top spot into second place. However, true to its blockbuster status, “Pirates’ has made just under R12m in four weeks.
In third spot is Nicolas Cage’s “Next’, followed by new release “Stomp the Yard’, a street-dancing saga. “Spider-Man 3′ is in 5th spot, with R17.2m in seven weeks of release. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
