The South African Communication Association (SACOMM) recently introduced themed working groups, and one of these is tentatively named Film and Screen Studies.
The Film and Screen Studies list will be managed in association with Intellect Publishers which is undertaking research on the viability of launching a new academic journal on the topic of African cinema.
Intellect already publishes a number of journals on the topic of film and media studies (http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/)
SACOMM manages three listserves: the first is for paid-up members only; the second is a general list open to anyone with an interest in African and South African communication, journalism, and cultural and media studies. This SACOMM based African cinema (Film and Screen
Studies) list is a third list.
