My Secret Sky is a film by Madoda Ncayiyana of Vuleka Productions, based in Durban. The film follows the journey of two young children as they travel from their rural village to the city after their mother’s death.
The film has been developed with the assistance of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF, South Africa). The producers are Jeremy Nathan and Moroba Nkawe (Dv8 Films)
Secured partners on the project include the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF, South Africa), the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), SterKinekor (South Africa) and Fonds Images Afrique (France). 60% of the financing of the film has been secured.
The film tells the story of a young Zulu girl who hits the road after her mother’s death, guided by the ancestors. She aims to fulfil her mother’s dream, but it is only when she reaches out to her little brother that she begins to find her own dream.
