Casper de Vries, one of South Africa’s best loved comedians, returns to the small screen to celebrate 21 years in the entertainment industry.
Two of De Vries’ successful Afrikaans-language stage performances, Snaaks Genoeg and My Wereld, have been packaged as a four-part series that goes out on pay-TV channels M-Net and kykNET.
M-Net screens the first part of Snaaks Genoeg on Monday, 26 March at 22:20 and the second on Monday 2 April at 22:20. My Wereld is broadcast on Monday 9 and Monday 16 April at 22:15. kykNET screens the shows on Thursdays, 29 March and 5, 12 and 19 April at 22:00.
To ensure that English viewers get full value of the shows, De Vries has added hilarious subtitles to accompany his original Afrikaans stand-up routines and comedy sketches.
“Jokes can’t by translated directly; they simply fall flat. Thy need to be rewritten from scratch if they are to retain their zing,’ says De Vries. “In some instances, the subtitles are even funnier than the originals.’
The kykNET shows will go out without subtitles as kykNET is an Afrikaans-language channel.
