According to Studio Briefing, Viacom, owner of Paramount, DreamWorks, MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central, among others, is suing Google for alleged “massive intentional copyright infringement’. The $1bm lawsuit includes YouTube, Google’s video-sharing subsidiary.
Viacom has reportedly requested an injunction to prevent YouTube users from uploading other copyrighted material. Last month Viacom demanded that YouTube remove more than 100 000 clips of Viacom’s copyrighted programming.
