Shot in South Africa, “Catch a Fire’, directed by Phillip Noyce and written by Shawn Slovo, has opened in fifth spot at the South African box office. The film stars Americans Tim Robbins and Derek Luke and is based on a true story about terrorism in the apartheid era.
Still in the top two spots at the local cinemas are “Blood Diamond’ followed by “Night at the Museum’. The comedy spoof “Epic Movie’ and the musical loosely based on the life of Diana Ross & The Supremes, “Dreamgirls’, are at numbers three and four respectively.
Stephen Frears’ Oscar-nominated “The Queen’ is doing respectable business for what is more of an arthouse than mainstream release – it has made over R3m in six weeks.
