Entries for the annual MultiChoice VUKA! Awards are coming in from around South Africa and, as usual, they are controversial, at times off-the-wall, sometimes inspirational and never boring.
Professionals and students alike have taken up the challenge to make unforgettable public service announcements which have a huge impact for the charities or cause they focus on. The organisers have responded to requests by filmmakers to extend the MultiChoice VUKA! Deadline. Entries for the competition will now close on 14 October 2006.
It is industry goodwill that underpins the huge success of the MultiChoice VUKA! Awards. MultiChoice has donated over R70m worth of airtime to screen the ads on its DStv channels since the inception of the awards, with the film and advertising industry donating an estimated R10m per annum in facilities and personal expertise. Most filmmakers who embark on making a MultiChoice VUKA! apply for direct assistance from production and facility houses in the form of rebates or sponsorships, and from professional producers, in the form of their time and intellectual support.
