Fox’s “24” and ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” were among the top nominees announced this Thursday for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, with 12 and 11 nominations apiece, respectively. Receiving the most nominations with 16 was the miniseries “Into the West.” In a major reversal from last year’s awards, neither top winners “Lost” or “Desperate Housewives” received best-series bids.
Defunct NBC hit “Will & Grace” was the most-nominated sitcom with 10 bids, including the race for best comedy series. The Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, will be broadcast live on NBC from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Aug. 27.
