Inxuluma Lansondo, a short film written by Makhosazana Zulu and produced by Thamsanqa Mthiyane, has been officially selected into the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF), which runs from 14 a€” 25 June 2006.
The film is a community based training and production initiative by Africam Century Television (ACE TV). It also won the HIVOS/Sithengi Film Fund Award 2005 in the first-time filmmakers category. “This award made me believe that our efforts have an effect in the development of the film industry in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal,” says Mthiyane, founder of ACE TV
Meanwhile, ACE TV has started its own distribution of Inxuluma Lansondo to African and European broadcasters. Some African broadcasters have expressed interest in the film. “The success of this project proves there is a need for such initiatives whereby industry practitioners can transfer effective skills to the historically disadvantaged who have demonstrated their potential to produce quality film and television productions,” says Mthiyane..
