The long awaited signing of the Co-production Treaty between South Africa and the UK took place on Thursday, 25 May during the Cannes International Film Festival.
This is seen as a welcome move by the SA industry, following many years of negotiations between SA’s Department of Arts and Culture (DAC), the National Film and Video Foundation of SA (NFVF) and the UK Film Council.
The signing of the Treaty took place on the same day as President Thabo Mbeki’s meeting with UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
