As part of the Durban International Film Festival, the University of KwaZulu Natal’s Centre for Creative Arts invites applications for a free 3 day workshop on Filming for News Inserts and Cultural Documentaries which will take place on 26-27-28 May 2006. From this workshop two or three successful candidates will be selected for a more intensive 2 week practical workshop from 12-26th June 2006, and which includes the production of short documentary inserts about the film festival.
Applicants for the workshop should be practising audio visual operators who wish to extend their skills. It is preferable that applicants have some experience in the cultural field. In addition applicants should preferably have experience with media production houses, either full or part time, and have access to film/video equipment. The workshop will teach practical skills on video camera technique, how to tell stories with the camera, scripting and video editing, with special attention to mini-news features. Successful participants will be awarded a certificate of attendance at the end of the workshop.
