Following on from last week’s announcement of a South African version of the hit reality series Survivor, comes the news that while 14 South Africans will compete in Panama, 12 Pan African candidates will follow them and compete for 21 days. The South African leg and the Pan Africa leg will run back-to-back.
Commenting on the Survivor coup, Head of M-Net Original Productions, Carl Fischer says, “I’m elated! This completes the triple crown of reality television. M-Net now owns the local rights to Big Brother, Idols and Survivor, the three most popular reality shows in the world. Viewers on the African continent have been familiar with the Survivor concept for many years; now we give them the opportunity to be part of it all.”
