South Africa’s Oscar-winning Best Actress of 2004, Charlize Theron, has again been nominated this year, this time for her performance in North Country.
Although Theron has already been nominated for a spate of awards for the same role, she is up against tough competition in the form of Reese Witherspoon, who has so far won a Golden Globe (Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy), a Critics Choice Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Johnny Cash’s wife in Walk The Line. Reese is clearly the hot favourite, with Desperate Housewives‘ star Felicity Huffman also a strong contender for her role as a transsexual male in Transamerica. This role won Huffman a Golden Globe in the Best Actress in a Drama category.
