SABC2 adds DEKATv to its lineup

SABC2 is adding DEKATv to its growing genre of magazine programmes that are educating and entertaining. The magazine show will debut for the first time on SABC2 on Wednesday, 18 April 2018 at 19h30.

DEKATv is set to take viewers on a journey of creativity and all forms of art, from extraordinary travels to journeys into the minds of South Africa’s influential personalities around the country. The series will show extraordinary celebrations and leave viewers with a recipe for art on a plate.

With the launch of the show comes a pool of new on-air talent. Award-winning entertainer, Chris Chameleon is the host of the show and will be joined every week by Charlene Brouwer, as a style insert presenter, Piet Matipa as an art insert presenter, Gerard Scholtz as a book insert presenter and Chantel Dartnall as a food insert presenter.

“Viewers can start preparing themselves for a visual feast when our brand new series kicks off at 19h30 on Wednesday 18 April on SABC2. You are invited to take your place in our lounge and be transported to our magical world of books, food, art, style and entertainment. Episode 1 (18 April 2018)

Gerard Scholtz visits Ronel Geldenhuys to talk about the challenges and passions of the radio world. South African chocolatier Stephanie van Vuuren doing coverture handcrafted chocolate in a way that South African’s have not seen.

Laura Windvogel, better known under the pseudonym, Lady Skollie, has taken the art world by storm. We visit her studio.

Chef Chantel Dartnall shows viewers how to prepare a beetroot & ostrich dish on ‘Some Birds Don’t Fly.’

Episode 2 (25 April 2018)

Marilyn Gantana grew up as a rebel in the township of Ravensmead. Gerard talks to her about her cookbook. Charlene talks to Thomas Dwebe about his passion for classical music. An artist using paper, shifu and silk as a medium of expression as we visit Mandy Coppes-Martin.

Episode 3 (2 May 2018)

Artist Zolile Phentsane creates colourful abstract landscapes. He also has an obsession with numbers. We visit his studio. Do video stores still exist? Yes! We visit The Majestic video store in Greenside, Johannesburg. Celebrating writers with an evening of stories, gifts, words and a beautiful view.
