Investment and industry holding company, the GS Group has launched the first
tablet computer designed for viewing satellite television Tricolor TV, the largest
Russian satellite operator. The tablet features preinstalled specialised software
which allows subscribers to have television viewing access from anywhere in their
household with Wi-Fi signal reception. This technological solution, developed by the
holding company, is the next step toward implementing the concept of global
satellite TV that in the future will be available for viewing anywhere in the world
using mobile devices.
The television tablet, Tricolor TV GS700 was developed to expand the boundaries of
TV viewing for subscribers of Tricolor TV. The tablet operates as an independent
screen in conjunction with a set of two general Satellite digital HD set-top boxes,
the GS E501 and the GS S591. This provides the viewer with the opportunity to have
access to different content on two TVs simultaneously by using one smart card. The
device is also compatible with the GS U510, GS E212 and GS B211 receivers and
acts as a mobile remote control. Connection to the set-top boxes is conducted
through Wi-Fi networks. The device includes pre-installed apps which allow the user
to view and control their satellite TV: Play.Tricolor, Kino.Tricolor and Guide.Tricolor.
The tablet is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat OS and is equipped with a quad-core
processor MediaTek MT8127. The device features a seven inch touchscreen display
with a 1024×600 pixel resolution and IPS-matrix that provides high quality colour
rendering in high contrast and large viewing angles.
The quad-core Mali-450 MP4: 700 MHz video card is responsible for graphics. The
tablet’s RAM is 1 GB and the internal flash memory is 4 GB. An optional microSD
memory card slot up to 32 GB is also available for additional memory. B/g/n Wi-Fi
modules and Bluetooth are embedded in the tablet to have an internet connection
and for data exchange. Thus, the device is ideal for video streaming viewing, in
particular Tricolor TV channels. GS700 is equipped with a HDMI connector to
transmit a high-definition signal to the big screen. In addition, the tablet supports
Miracast technology to render wireless signal transmissions and features GPS
navigation system.
The tablet has two cameras: the main one having a resolution of 2MP and the
front-facing one having 0.3 MP. The device weighs around 280g and the battery
capacity is equal to 2800 mAh which allows the device to operate on standby mode
for up to 200 hours without charging and around five hours of active use in video
playback mode.
The tablet was developed using three key fundamentals: smart remote control, multi-screen and interactive entertaining services. The tablet aims at simplifying subscriber’s consumption experience and making it more interactive.
