On 23 October, Canal+ launched a new channel, A+, in 20 western and central African
countries. A+ aims to attract a wide audience; reflect the continent’s individuality; and
to be the standard channel for French-speaking Africa.

The majority of programming on A+ is dedicated to African or African-American
series, films and TV movies, but the channel also broadcasts special reports, reality
TV and game shows.

Jacques du Puy, Canal+ Overseas chairman says, “A+ will be made by Africans, for
Africans, and illustrates Canal+ Africa’s commitment to supporting the development of
Africa’s cultural industry and to help ensure that it is dynamic, is talent-rich and helps
create jobs. A+ will thus feature local productions, which Canal+ plans to promote and
help to develop.’

Canal+ Africa is the leading satellite pay-TV operator in French-speaking Africa, with
1.1 million subscribers and eight subsidiaries.
