The EMP Museum, a non-profit institution which invests in ideas that drive
popular culture, in partnership with the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF),
presents the 10th Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film Festival. The festival
will showcase 20 short films at the Cinerama Theatre in Seattle in early 2015.
Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit their films before the
final deadline on 15 September 2014.
Requirements
• Films can be up to 15 minutes in length
• Films must be produced after 2010
• Films can be animated or live-action
• Films must be in the genre of science fiction or fantasy (examples: futuristic
stories, space adventure, technological speculation, social experiments, utopia
and dystopia, sword and sorcery, folklore, urban fantasy, magic, and mythic
adventure)
A jury consisting of notable film, television and literature professionals as well as
science fiction industry leaders will determine the winners of the Grand Prize,
Second Place, Third Place, and the Douglas Trumbull Award for Best Special
Effects. Films can also be nominated by viewers for the Audience Favourite
award.
Previous festival films have gone on to secure distribution, garner a large fan
base, receive Academy Award nominations and feature at festivals around the
world.
Interested filmmakers should note that an entry fee of US$45 is payable upon
submission.
