From 24 September, MTV (DStv channel 130) will air The Tonight Show
Starring Jimmy Fallon
, an Emmy Award-nominated US late-night talk
show, after acquiring the African TV broadcast rights from NBC Universal
International Television Distribution. The show will air on weekdays at 18h00,
with an omnibus edition running on from 17h00 to 19:00 on Saturdays and
Sundays.

Dillon Khan, channel director for MTV and VH1 South Africa said, “MTV and Jimmy
Fallon have a long history of collaboration, going back to 2002 when he hosted
the Video Music Awards. We are delighted that Jimmy will be joining our line-up
as star of The Tonight Show, and thrilled to be introducing this
entertainment phenomenon to new audiences in Africa. We expect The
Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
to form a staple part of our audience’s
daily viewing, with each show driving conversations among fans from the swings
in the playground to the water cooler at work and everywhere in
between.’

Fallon took over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno in February 2014
and has brought a new energy to the franchise. The comedian, actor, musician
and author brings his awareness of pop culture and good taste in music to the
show, where he involves A-list celebrities in games, pranks, sketches and funny
anecdotes.

The Tonight Show has featured notable guests including Michelle
Obama, Josh Hartnett, Will Ferrell, Charlize Theron, Morgan Freeman, Julia
Roberts and Tom Cruise as well as top musical and comedic acts.
