Submissions are now open for the PPC Imaginarium Awards which aims to reward innovation and design that uses cement as a primary inspiration or material.
In order to enter, students, recent graduates and young independent filmmakers who are not yet established, will need to submit a written concept by 31 August 2014.
The judges are looking for an idea that provides a critical look into South Africa’s current and future urban environment.
Entrants can submit in any audio-visual medium or cinematic style, be it a documentary, mockumentary, fiction, music video, a comedy, an animation or even a corporate promotional video on concrete for PPC.
Finalists in the film category will be commissioned and given a budget of R35 000 as well as mentoring and technical support to produce their film professionally. The finalists will then be promoted online, and judged by the final panel of judges which will be made up of filmmakers and academics.
The winner will take away R50 000 and stand a chance to win the grand prize of R100 000, while runners-up will be awarded R15 000.
Winners and finalists will also receive exposure at Design Indaba 2015, The Johannesburg Art Fair, The Turbine Hall Art Fair, The Museum of African Design in Maboneng, The Pretoria Art Museum and Guild 2015 in Cape Town.
