Vee TV, a Limpopo-based open view free-to-air channel which broadcasts a wide range of current affairs, entertainment and educational programmes, will not launch on 2 June, as promised by the head of the operation, Wanga Ramakhanya.
Sources, who wish to remain anonymous, claim this is due to financial difficulties and say, “It was recently said that the reason we did not get our money is that the investors did not put [in] the money as planned. The money is just not there at the moment.”
When asked if staff members had not been paid, Ramakhanye replied saying that they would be paid this week and that the channel has not yet gone live because of technical difficulties relating to a shortage of fibre optics experienced by their suppliers in Cape Town.
