Fargo, a 1996 movie by US filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen, has been
developed into a 10-episode series which will feature on US TV channel, FX
Network.
Noah Hawley, Executive Producer and Writer of the series said, “The show is
about what happens when a civilized man meets a very uncivilized man. It was
our hope that we would create a cast that was a movie cast, not a TV cast.
We’re making a 10-hour movie.’
The film stars Billy Bob Thornton (Bad Santa), Martin Freeman (The Hobbit),
Allison Tolman (Prison Break), Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad), Colin Hanks (Orange
County), Oliver Platt (The Big C), Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan) and Kate
Walsh (Private Practice).
The film, Fargo, is a crime thriller/ black comedy featuring a kidnapping gone
wrong, which takes place in Minnesota. The pregnant detective who is working
on a series of homicides in the area is assigned the case and sets out to find
the culprits.
Adam Bernstein, who directed the first two episodes said: “There’s a
resemblance between the main constellation of characters in the movie in the
series, but they’re different people in different phases of their lives. What you’ll
find is that the series is less directly inspired from the movie and more a
blending, if you will, of the original movie and No Country for Old Men.’
