BrightSign, LLC®, the market leader in digital signage media players,
demonstrated its new 4K player at NAB. The players support MPEG-DASH
(Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP), which allows for high-quality streaming
of media content.
The player puts out native 4K video files at 3840×2160 resolution H.265 via
HDMI 2.0 AT 60fps. It includes a powerful video engine with high-end scaling
technology, which allows it to play either one native 4K video or two full HD
videos simultaneously. It supports buffered playback of full HD video, motion
JPEG and audio streams in all common formats. The system enables users to
divide the screen into zones, allowing the playback of multiple content types on
a single screen.
The capacity for live content is one of the BrightSign 4K’s major attractions. It
can display live, updated content without having to republish the presentation,
using Live Data, Live Media, MRSS, Twitter and Flickr feeds, among others. It can
also screen live HDTV content via the player’s HDMI inputs.
The player can also act as a video server. It can serve video streams from the
Internet of from local storage to other devices on the same LAN. And it interacts
fully with a range of compatible devices: barcode scanners, motion sensors,
RFID, GPIO, USB buttons, touch screens, IR remotes, serial devices, keyboards,
mice and so on.
The player offers a number of connectivity and networking options. Its wireless
and Ethernet connections enable users to interact with signage via mobile
devices, deliver emergency messages, integrate with databases, show
controllers and more. Multiple networking options make it easy to update
content, play back live content, monitor players and manage signage remotely.
The player is also equipped for geo-fencing, which means that content can be
targeted to location using a USB GPS dongle.
