Capital TV is a newly established television network in Ghana, operated by Kingdom Capital Group, which is currently in its test transmitting phase.
Benjamin Nii Commey Otoo, Executive Chairman of Kingdom Capital Group claims the channel will provide audiences with news, entertainment, business and talk shows, as well as programmes which reflect the lifestyle in Ghana and the rest of Africa.
“Capital TV’s main aim is to satisfy the viewers with what they really want to see. We don’t want to follow the trend others are following. We want to be unique in our own way. We will use all our programmes to inspire our generation,’ adds Otoo.
Otoo says the station will feature over 100 programmes and will not compete with local TV stations, but that a number of English programmes, which will air across Africa, may rival the BBC viewership.
Ricky Anokye, Chief Executive Officer of Capital TV says the channel will provide a dynamic selection of programmes to suit a wide audience and concludes, “Language-wise we are doing a blend of Ghanaian languages to the extent that people who are not even Ghanaian will find a way to relate to these programmes.
“We have the Reggae Festival where we play well-selected reggae music from across the world, and World Reggae TV which airs from midnight to 04h00, comprising all genres of reggae including Dancehall.’
