Tamasha Gambushe has won the Black Carpet Presenter Search, generated by SABC1, Selimathunzi and Metro FM. As the winner she will present inserts for Selimathunzi as well as co-host the Black Carpet segment of the Metro Music Awards (MMAs) with Selimathunzi presenter Zizo Beda, Real Goboza host Sinazo Yolwa and Generations actress Amanda du Pont.
The selection follows a 16-day audition process during which thousands of young hopefuls from KwaZulu-Natal presented their skills to a judging panel, after a call to entry was posted on the Selimathunzi website.
Dichaba Phalatse, SABC1’s Portfolio Marketing Manager of Entertainment said: “Tamarsha won out of on-line entries exceeding 4,000, and auditions held for over 100 shortlisted candidates. The process was not easy and between SABC1, Metro FM and Ukhozi FM, we are confident South Africa will fall in love with Tamarsha the way we have.’
Before appearing at the MM’s, Gambushe, a 24-year-old Umlazi-born songstress, will undertake a five-day presenting course and undergo preparations at the SABC in Johannesburg.
Gambushe said: “The audition process has been a great experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to meet new people and I have learnt much. It is a great opportunity for me that I’m immensely grateful and honoured to be a part of.’
The MMAs will broadcast at 20h00 on SABC1 on Saturday 1 March 2014 from the International Convention Centre in Durban
