LiveU, a leader in portable live video-over-cellular solutions, has announced that the World Economic Forum has recognised the company as a Technology Pioneer 2014. Consisting of 36 companies, the winners comprise the World Economic Forum’s selection as the world’s most innovative technology start-ups.

The companies are being recognised for their potential to transform the future of business and society, with their achievement honored at the Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2013 to be held in Dalian, People’s Republic of China, from 11 to 13 September.

A high-level selection committee consisting of top technology and innovation experts, academics and venture capitalists made the Technology Pioneer 2014 selections. Each year the World Economic Forum chooses a select number of Technology Pioneers from hundreds of possibilities.

LiveU is the inventor of cellular-bonding technology which continues to facilitate daily newsgathering operations for broadcasters, news agencies and online media worldwide.

David Aikman, MD of New Champions at the World Economic Forum, said, “The impact of technology continues to increase in all aspects of society. The diversity of innovative thinking and possible solutions they offer are why leaders from all sectors of society are interested in interacting with the Technology Pioneers.’

Samuel Wasserman, LiveU’s CEO, commented: “We are extremely proud to have been recognised as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. This is recognition of not only our level of innovation and leadership in this space but also reflects, most importantly, customers’ satisfaction with our technology. LiveU continues to innovate with many applications for cellular bonding still ahead of us. It’s exciting times for the industry with live video playing a key role in global newsgathering and social media.’

LiveU will present its full range of live video uplink solutions at IBC in Amsterdam in September and has been nominated for two IBC Connected World TV Awards – the Innovation Award and for the Best Delivery Technology of the Year (Services).
