Popular South African television presenter and former Miss SA, Jo-Ann Strauss, launched the second #OnlinePresenterSearch on 1 July, during the season finale of her magazine show, Glambition with Jo-Ann Strauss on e.tv.
Created by Jo-Ann Strauss Productions (JSP) Pty Ltd, the #OnlinePresenterSearch competition encourages aspirant presenters to upload their auditions which they can record on their cellphones, smartphones, digital cameras, etc., onto YouTube and to enter via the website www.presentersearch.com.
Strauss held the first #OnlinePresenterSearch in 2012, believed to be the world’s largest competition of its kind, with hundreds of entries uploaded and four finalists selected. The finalists traveled with Strauss and Bonang Matheba to a five-star resort in Zambia where they spent three days learning about media and honing their presenting skills.
This year, the competition is open to entrants from across the African continent. Auditions must be uploaded in English and be 30 seconds long.
The four finalists chosen will travel to Reunion Island with Strauss and a still to be announced celebrity mentor. They will participate in adventure sports and shoot a mini-reality series that will be broadcast via the website www.presentersearch.com and the various social media channels. The public will be invited to vote for their favourite finalist and win fantastic prizes.
Once announced on 20 September, the winner will become an online presenter for e.tv and gain valuable experience and exposure.
As the main sponsor, Samsung will supply various mobile devices for the finalists to use on the island to be able to share the action via social media. The finalists will stay at the LUX Ile da Reunion which is the island’s only 5-star resort. They will fly there directly from Johannesburg with Air Austral.
