The first Nigerian to headline the Comedy Central gig, superstar Basketmouth won many new fans at Comedy Central Presents Basketmouth Live at Parker’s. The sell-out stand-up comedy event took place at Parker’s Comedy & Jive (@ParkersComedy) on 24 April 2013.

California native Arlen “Griff’ Griffin fulfilled a lifetime ambition to become a comedian and has since developed into one of the leading comedians and on-air personalities in the US, where he regularly opens for acts such as Beyonce, New Edition, Mo’Nique, D.L. Hughley, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Dottie Peoples, Mary Mary and more.
Chris Mapane is a South African comedian who has been on the scene for about seven years. His skills earned him an Ikusasa Comedian of the Year nomination in 2012 as well as the opportunity to host the Olympics send-off event for the South African swimming team and the Telkom Foundation “Beacon of Hope’ event, to mention just a few. The comedian also played the lead role in David Kau’s film Taxi Ride.
Mel Jones, a product of the Cape Comedy Collective’s Comedy Lab workshops, has entertained crowds with her signature confidence and sexy attitude. She brings her perspective as a young woman looking in vain for Mr Right to the amusement of all. She is a regular on SABC 3’s Comedy Showcase and the Phat Joe Show.
South Africa’s top comics have been hosting Comedy Central’s monthly stand-up gig since its launch in sub-Saharan Africa just less than 18 months ago. Among the funny men and women who graced the stage at Parker’s Comedy & Jive are Chris Forrest, Kurt Schoonraad, Tumi Morake, Al Prodgers, Joey Rasdien, Barry Hilton, Loyiso Gola, Tats Nkonzo and Stuart Taylor.
