The third season of the spoofy dramedy, Ugly Betty, will start airing on SABC3 from Saturday, 27 April at 18h00. Set in the glamorous world of high fashion magazine Mode, the series stars America Ferrera in the title role, supported by Eric Mabius, Vanessa Williams, Michael Urie and Tony Plana.
As the toothy, plain secretary with disastrous taste in clothes and spectacles, Ferrera won the Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Musical or Comedy, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance for a Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, as well as ALMA and Imagen Awards. She was honored with a Chevy Entertainer of the Year Award at the 2008 ALMAS.
Ugly Betty ran for four seasons on American network ABC. It was based on a Colombian soap opera called Betty, la fea. Hollywood big screen star Salma Hayek was one of the producers of Ugly Betty.
In the first episode of Season 3, which comprises 24 episodes, Betty must make a life-altering decision about what to do with her life. Meanwhile, Betty’s father Ignacio (Tony Plana) lands a job at a fast food restaurant and Wilhelmina (Vanessa Williams) forces Daniel (Eric Mabius) to make changes in his life.
