South African comedian Loyiso Gola and his team return to the small screen for Season 5 of Late Nite News on e.tv on Wednesday, 12 September at 21h35. The series can also be seen in the Wednesday 21h30 timeslot on eNCA (DStv Channel 403) and in the UK on the SKY digital Satellite Platform (Channel 518)

Since its inception in September 2010, Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola has propelled South African satire to the forefront of entertainment, engaging viewers in humorous and honest public debate on all current affairs matters.

The highly successful series is now in its fifth season and promises the return of no-holds bars reporting, unconventional comic observations and more in-depth and amusing interviews.

The usual suspects are back. Gola will once again be heading up the team as the host, Riaad Moosa returns with his biting Second Opinion on all matters newsworthy while David Kibuuka continues to give his unusual take on world events.

After encounters with the likes of Helen Zille, Gwede Mantashe and Mosioua Lekota, Chester Missing is still on his quest to grill more political figureheads. Tats Nkonzo, who is also the host of season three of SA’s Got Talent, is still crooning the Morale Index.

“LNN holds up a mirror to South Africa and encourages the youth to engage with the political landscape of today,’ says Tamsin Andersson, producer of LNN “Satire and humour are powerful tools in opening up the space for debate and free thought in popular culture. We ask the common sense questions and make people laugh.’

This season, all eyes are on the Road to Mangaung, with the final and 14th episode of LNN being broadcast a few days before the kick-off of Mangaung. Viewers can also expect cameos from some of the country’s most celebrated performers, in true LNN tradition.

Repeats will be screened on eNCA at 12:30PM on Thursdays; 09h30 and on Fridays at 16h30 and 23h30PM on Saturdays; 21h30 on Mondays.
